THE CHALLENGE

A DAY TO STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH THOSE WHO HAVE SACRIFICED RATHER THAN DENYING THEIR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST

“We were not in prison very long before we discovered that everyone was hungry all the time. Every morning after the heavy wooden door had opened, one of the guards would bring us our daily ration of rice, which was one cup for each person.”

-From PREM, chapter 8, by Robert V. Finley

EAT

Cook one cup of rice—it makes about three cooked cups. Add a pinch of salt. Eat only this rice for one meal or up to three meals to experience a day in the life of Prem in prison. Remember him, the five men, four women, and one baby who went to jail and lived on only one cup of rice a day for one year rather than deny their faith in Christ.

PRAY

As you take the challenge, pray for those who suffer for Christ in parts of the world hostile to the gospel.

Additionally, pray for Nepal:

  • For growth in the churchthough there are over a million Christians in Nepal today, there are still more than 28 million unbelievers there
  • For New Life Jutpani Mission, the ministry started by Prem that continues today

STRETCH

  • What does it look like for you to stand for your faith and not deny Christ where you are?
  • Are you a public or private Christian? When and where does that show?
  • What does the Bible say about what the world should see when they encounter followers of Christ?
  • Where do you find your attitude has the most impact on the people
    around you?
  • Do you testify to others when the Lord works on your behalf or answers your prayers?
  • Is there anything that could happen in this life that could threaten your faith or trust in the Lord?
  • Have you resolved it in your heart to confess Christ, even if it might cost you everything?
